Main purpose of the job

To pro-actively and consistently conduct targeted sales visits to new and existing users of industrial, energy, power generation oil and gas, food and beverage OEM spares both in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa and to identify, record and report their current, short, medium and long term purchasing requirements and to actively promote the sales of OEM spares (and any other company products or service as deemed appropriate by management) in order to achieve/exceed budgeted order intake, revenue and gross margin.

Minimum role requirements (qualifications, experience & skills)

Matric
Post high school qualification (Minimum)
A minimum of 3-5 years in a technical sales environment
Knowledge of water tube, boilers and their associated processes
Ability to read technical drawings associated with boilers and their processes
Knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes
Must have technical sales knowledge of OEM spares application, selection, design and service in the industrial, power & energy generation oil and gas or food and beverage markets
Must be able to interact with customers especially under stressful circumstances
Must be able to accurately identify a customer's needs
Must be able to assist with solving engineering problems applicable to the use of the company's products
Competent in the use of spreadsheet, word processor associated computer software
Must be sales driven and customer orientated
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Must be trustworthy and ethical
Must be able to work under instruction

Key role responsibilities

Conduct pro-active and consistent targeted sales visits to existing and new customers within South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa

Accurately identify, record and report customer's current, short, medium and long term needs for quotation, statistical, marketing and forecasting purposes and promote the sales of the company's OEM spares

Actively interact with necessary technical, commercial and sales personnel in order to ensure that quotations are accurate and keep the company's risk at a minimum

Monitor, record and report customers purchasing trends in order to optimise sales, develop relationships and to optimise gross margins where possible

Actively participate in sales meetings

Actively and regularly contribute to compilation of budgets and forecasts

Assist with the compilation of large tenders where requested

Accurately and consistently provide management with pro-active and reactive reporting through customer call lists, visit reports and CRM

Assist with the stock taking process if required
