SECURITY AND RISK OFFICER
PERMANENT

Job Purpose

To be responsible of security position unit, safeguard of company assets and the safety of company, ensure that incidents are minimized, to offer advisory capacity on safety matters to management.

Key Responsibilities:

Security Management
• Manage security and health & safety portfolio.
• Manage the rosters of the security unit and leaves
• Manage the security team, CCTV Operators, Security shift supervisors and legal appointments as per OHSACT.
• Ensure statutory requirements and compliance with PSIRA
• Ensure security systems are maintained and operate properly/effectively
• Manage the overall security in the building including strict access and egress control to restricted areas.
• Perform weekly security systems inspection on all systems (Fire Panels, Security alarms systems, CCTV, Patrol
systems, panic buttons, Ramrad communication system and Access control systems.
• Conduct security breach investigations.
• Conduct quarterly security threat assessment and make recommendation to mitigate potential risks.
• Implementing the security plan in line with the objective of the business unit
• Ensure security policy is periodically reviewed by senior management
• Ensure employees comply with security procedures.
• Implement continuously strategies that aimed at crime prevention.
• Ensure that Standard operating Procedures (SOP), emergency procedures and plan are updated and reviewed
all the times-as and when necessary or annually.
• Conduct security system auditing and recommendation on new security systems as part of security integration
programme for continuous loss prevention
• Manage the SLA of external service providers (Security Integrated Systems Company and armed response
company)

Health and Safety
• Ensure compliance with all required legislation, practices and relevant standards
• Help management to identify potential risks and trends and give advice on appropriate actions to minimize,
mitigate or eliminate them.
• Conduct weekly SHEQ walkabouts in the workplace to identify hazards and risks and communicate the findings
to the management for corrective actions.
• Ensure health and safety committee meeting are held on quarterly basis.
• Provide professional advice on issues pertaining to health and safety to senior management.
• Legal appointments are in place as per OHSACT.
• Conduct root cause analysis. Recommend remedial actions to prevent future reoccurrences.
• Conduct health & safety risk assessments (baseline, issue-bases, continuous) and security threat risk
assessments on quarterly basis.
• Ensure safety signs are prominently displayed as part of statutory requirements.
• Ensure that SHE representative conduct monthly inspections and coordinate SHE trainings of employees.
• Ensure fire equipment are inspected and serviced annually.
• Conduct Safety and security awareness programmes to employees, inductions.
• Conduct Incidents and accidents investigation (OHS).

EDUCATION
• Matric
• National Degree or Diploma in Safety Management and OH&S certificate
• Registered with PSIRA – A grade
EXPERIENCE
• 3+ Years’ experience with security and OHS management
• SAPS background would be an advantage
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
• Carrying out post incident analysis
• Establishing workplace safety and health committees
• Knowledge of decontamination
• Knowledge of good safety practice
• Computer proficiency
• Developing emergency procedures
• Ability to maintain effective work relationship with people from all social background.
