Senior Actuarial Specialist (Reserving)
Johannesburg

Will be part of the reserving team and will assist in calculating and ensuring appropriate technical provisions are in place for the Short Term (ST) Licences. The person will also have the opportunity of developing relationships with finance and business individuals from across the business

Assist the Head of the Corporate Short Term Actuarial with
Calculation and reporting of technical provisions
Calculating the technical provisions for the ST licences, both for IFRS and SAM reporting
Premiums provisions
Claims provisions (OCR and IBNR); and cashbacks
Providing specialist reserving knowledge and ensuring appropriate guidance notes are adhered to
Regular reporting of results to business and finance
Assist in completing sections of the returns submitted to the Prudential Authority, FSCA, ASISA, NCR and other regulatory and industry bodies
Support on IFRS17 implementation and readiness
Review, and assist where necessary, the data team in data quality reporting and ad hoc data problem solving
Contributing to the underwriting projections during the budgeting process
Manage stakeholder expectations especially from Head: Corporate Short Term Actuarial and their engagement with Group Chief Actuary, Head: Balance Sheet and Investment Management, ST HAF, Risk Management, Central Finance, General management, and Shareholder representatives
Ensure that all actuarial processes are performed as efficiently as possible and are compliant with the current risk control environment and actuarial governance procedures

A degree in Actuarial Science
Good progress with ASSA (or similar professional body) examinations
Experience in an actuarial environment within the Short-term Insurance industry d28.1h
