Our client based in Cape Town is looking for a Senior Java Developer to add to their team on a permanent basis

You will be required to:

• maintain and expand the system architecture
• design and implement software system components
• integrate software components from multiple suppliers, ensuring system integrity and stability
• coordinate development efforts in the support of the system in production
• advise company management on technical matters relating to the software development program

Must have Skills and Requirements for this Position:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in computer science or related scientific fields
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Java programming (up to Java 7)
• Spring
• Spring REST/Security
• Hibernate
• SQL
• PostgreSQL
• A working knowledge of front-end web technologies including: JavaScript, HTML, CSS and related development tooling/infrastructure in this discipline.
• Experience in the following will be an advantage:
• PostgreSQL 9.3 + PostGIS extensions
• AngularJS
• Mobile application development
• Data-intensive GIS solutions
• GeoServer
• HighCharts graphing library
• Bower dependency manager
• Protractor, karma and Jasmine for unit and end-to-end testing
• Apache + SSL + mod jk configuration
• Python
• Agile methodologies such as scrum and kanban
• Coordinating work in a distributed development team (1 year +)
• Continuous Integration, including unit testing with J-Unit, and build and deployment using Jenkins
• Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tooling such as Aha!, Jira, or similar
• Implementation of coding and other quality standards in a development team
• Code review processes
