SHERQ Officer, Sasolburg

Qualifications and Experience required:

• Sound understanding of the implementation, maintenance and auditing of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
• More than 2 years of SHERQ experience in the Chemical Industry
• Safety Management Degree / Btech or related Degree
• SAMTRAC qualification
• NEBOSH qualification
• Operations and Quality Diploma (will be an advantage)
• Safety Diploma (will be an advantage)
• Environmental Health Diploma (will be an advantage)
• Minimum 2 years experience in the Chemical industry

Duties
Maintains the Integrated Management System (IMS):
• Provide coaching and support on IMS aspects to customer areas:
o Control of documented information;
o Audit and inspection management;
o Incident and non-conformance management;
o Communication and awareness;
o Planning and monitoring of processes and activities;
o Promote risk based thinking on prevention;
o Identify opportunities for continuous improvement;
o Management review of system performance
• Control the quality of the data and usage of IMS electronic systems (Isometrix, SharePoint, MES, Qlikview)

Ensure compliance with legal requirements, standards, and other requirements:
• Conduct plant inspections to identify legal non-conformances
• Coach on compliance issues
• Facilitate hazard and critical task/activity identification (activity based risk assessment)
• Facilitate the review of task procedures and work instructions
• Facilitate and confirm PTO evaluations
• Ensure and confirm HIRA and clearance certificate issued

Consolidate and analyze SHERQ indicators:
• Create effective reporting routes
• Ensure all indicators are consolidated in time
• Analyze the indicators and provide risk focused issues for solutions and actions
• Quality check on data
• Feedback to management on indicator status in order to ensure KPI improvement

Increase awareness and competency through SHERQ training:
• Identify and advise on training needs analyses and training recommendations, especially to resolve identified system and process competence shortfalls
• Create and sustain SHERQ awareness through communication mediums
• Facilitate the review of task procedure
• Conduct selected training: Plant specific and Classroom

Conduct monthly SHERQ inspections:
• Schedule inspections with key customers
• Conduct routine and ad-hoc inspections as needed
• Report on non-conformance's, waste and spillage, physical conditions, etc.
• Ensure corrective actions are implemented
• Follow up to ensure action effectiveness

Conduct internal system and process audits on the Integrated Management Systems of the customer area:
• Planning and scheduling of quarterly audits (systems and process)
• Conduct audits in order to identify:
o System deviations related to policy, procedures and standards
o Process deviations related to QC control, the design and control parameters
• Ensure reports are issued and findings captured in IMS
• Ensure findings and actions are closed-out appropriately
• Monthly report to Management on status of findings and actions
• Participate and support on verification and external audits

Facilitate risk assessments (Baseline & Issue based):
• Identify the need for risk assessment
• Identify what type of risk assessment is required
• Lead and facilitate the assessment
• Ensure correct matrix is used
• Ensure good quality of data is captured in Isometrix

Conduct investigations:
• Ensure that all events (incidents and non-conformances) are raised and reported
• Be proficient in leading investigations
• Schedule team and venue
• Facilitate investigations
• Ensure quality of investigations
• Ensure investigation is captured in Isometrix
• Ensure investigation actions are managed
• Make use of other events (incident & NC-learnings) to find opportunities for improvement

Job Competencies:
