Senior Actuarial Specialist -SuperFund & Small Schemes
Positions in Cape Town, Durban, Sandton

Pricing (large) group arrangements, developing/improving the experience investigation capability, recommending product and technical pricing basis changes and enhancements with the focus being to maintain GAP’s excellence in product management.
Interact with clients, intermediaries and internal stakeholders at all levels.
Preform regular mortality and morbidity experience investigations to feed into the pricing bases.
Support in the development and maintenance of pricing bases for full suite group risk products.
Contribute to the design and implementation of the new operating model between GAP and SuperFund.
Perform the annual superFund rate review.
Quarterly reporting to Superfund on the performance of SuperFund risk products.
Assist SuperFund team on quotes and client queries.
Support to Product Development Actuary on pricing bases for group risk products in Africa.
Automation of models and business processs.
Support to Product Development Actuary on the development and enhancements of group risk products, product maintenance and risk management.
Provide technical support ito group risk products in particular, to marketing, proposition, finance and servicing areas.
Pricing of large group risk arrangements.
Train and develop junior actuarial students.

Senior actuarial student making good progress with exams (exceptional candidates who don’t meet this requirement may be considered)
At least 3 years actuarial experience
Strong analytical and technical skills
Good communication skills and have the ability to interact effectively with
Highly motivated and energetic self-starter who is good at working with complex tasks under tight deadlines
Experience in mortality and morbidity experience investigations would be an advantage
Group Assurance pricing experience would be an advantage
Experience in the Group Risk or Employee Benefits industry would be an advantage
Experience in using VBA, SQL, R, Tableau or Power BI would be an advantage l8.4o

Senior Actuarial Specialist – Reporting & Analytics
Positions in Cape Town, Durban, Sandton

Support the Reporting and Analytics Actuary. Developing the actuarial analysis & reporting capability and the pricing of large group arrangements.


Development and maintenance of tools to analyse actuarial and business data in order to enhance management reporting as well as client reporting
Support in the management of, and reporting on, international pooling arrangements, including review of operating guide
Review and analysis of valuation data, processes and results of group risk products’ performance to gain a deeper understanding and insight into business results and emerging trends
Input into the improvement and development of GAP data and systems
Automation of models and business processes
Pricing of (large) group risk arrangements
Provide technical oversight and support, for group risk products in particular, to finance and servicing areas
Provide technical input and support to other areas within GAP Actuarial, for example product maintenance, risk management, product development and Africa growth strategy.
Training & development of junior actuarial students

Senior Actuarial Specialist
Positions in Sandton and Cape Town
• Carries out technical actuarial work often using complex systems and packages;
• Checks, manipulates and analyses volumes of data, and draws conclusions from the analyses;
• Ensures technical accuracy and timely implementation of work;
• Signs off Junior Actuarial Specialist's work;
• Generates actuarial reports on various technical issues on a periodic basis;
• Takes responsibility for specific deliveries;
• Enjoys working with a broad range of traditional and non-traditional actuarial disciplines; and
• Translates actuarial concepts into client-friendly terminology.

More than 5 years’ experience in life insurance;, The ability to apply analytical, integrative, lateral and systems thinking, The ability to communicate complex information to an audience that has little or no actuarial experience
