JOB PURPOSE
Assist with planning, coordination and implementation of Health and Wellness interventions based on the needs of learners and employees. Facilitate evaluations of the impact of wellness programs on employee/ Learners. Providing education and support based on health and wellness in the workplace and class to facilitate sustainability in professional and personal development.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
? Currently enrolled with a South African University’s BSW of Social Work Degree as a 3rd or 4th year student.
? Completed (BSW) Social Work Degree.
? Must be registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals (SACSSP) as a Social Work Student or/ must be
registered as a Social Worker with the SACSSP.
? 2 - 3 years’ experience in the development of a wellness promotion strategy in a corporate environment and basic clinical experience in a
psychological setting.
? Within an EAP/EAP-related context or a corporate wellness promotion context (psychologist, social worker, counsellor, wellness consultant).

DUITES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Complete a psychosocial assessment on the referred students that
acknowledges strengths while addressing identified needs.
2. Interns will examine the stages of social interaction during the phases of the skills development
process.
3. Serve as a liaison between Signa and community (Clinic, local social development
departments) agencies to provide appropriate referrals and services for students and families in
need.
4. Provide school-based interventions, including but not limited to:
a) individual and group counselling
b) crisis intervention
c) Case management for “at risk” students.
d) Collaborate with school-based staff and administrators.
e) Participation in Student Success Team and Individual Education Plan meeting as needed
and assist in the development of intervention plans in which academic social work services
are appropriate.
f) Serve as a liaison and advocate for students.
g) Provide and/or facilitate classroom presentations if necessary.
h) Provide and/or coordinate In-services and staff development.
5. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor, including
but not limited to:
a) Participation in regularly scheduled social work intern training, case conferences and
supervision meetings.
b) Attend related conferences and seminars.
c ) Involvement in grant writing.
d) Involvement in community development
e) Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
6. Manage Information
a) Documenting the behavior of clients, handle the paperwork for securing services, and file
assessments and reports. Maintaining an up-to-date roster of relevant agencies is also part
of the job.
b) Keep records or prepare reports for client or management concerning visits with social work clients:
c) Write reports or evaluations.
d) Maintain social services program records
e) Provide information or refer individuals to public or private agencies or community services for assistance.
f) Present social services program information to the Signa community
g) Refer clients to Wellness or social service programs.

? Interpersonal skills – the focus of this role is on people, so assistants must have good interpersonal skills and practice clear communication while also listening effectively
? Problem-solving skills – since assistants often encounter clients in challenging situations, they must be adept at problem-solving
? Emotional intelligence –assistants should have the psychological acumen to evaluate client concerns and emotional states during assessments and consultations
? Computer proficiency – it’s the assistant’s job to handle paperwork and client records. Most of these documents are stored as digital files, so social worker assistants must be comfortable using basic data entry tools

NB: Social Work Intern (11 months Fixed Term Contract and required to work 3 days per week)
