SUMMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Solar Technician will proactively support the wider team’s core construction activities including (but not necessarily limited to):

Electrical installation works (single & three phase; AC & DC; LV & MV)
Mechanical installation works
Termination of electrical connections
System fault finding
Distribution board assemblies
Complete Solar PV System, Solar Thermal System, Generator, Transformer, and Inverter commissioning works.
Any site decommissioning works.
Assist the Construction Manager in the development of any handover documentation.
Action any rigging requirements for a project.
Action any transportation requirements for a project.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Have a proven track record (At least 2 years) in similar technical roles. e.g. related to solar PV, CHP, energy storage, wind, and green hydrogen.
Self-starter, persuasive and results-oriented: Proven experience in working to deadlines with
Must possess basic mathematics skills and good verbal communication skills
Be good at solving problems.
Sufficient knowledge of IT systems and protocols that are required for solar site commissioning and maintenance.
Good at planning site visits, and making sure all equipment/ tools/ etc. are available on site.
Be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
Can work without direct supervision to stay motivated.
Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practised in the construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of solar power plants.
Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
Must be able to respond to any callouts and system issues.
Good data entry/computer skills and report writing.
Work as part of a team.
Bachelor’s Degree in Energy- or Electrical Engineering and/or related technical field.
Holds a valid T3 Solar Photovoltaic Technician License.
Holds a valid driving License.
Experience living and working in Kenya (ideally 1-2 years minimum)
