Sourcing Specialist: Capital Projects

Our procurement consulting client operating primarily in the mining industry and private sector is looking for a Sourcing Specialist to operate in the Klerksdorp and Limpopo Regions. Initially on a 1 year contract which will continue should their own client’s contract extend.

Requirements:
• Tertiary education in procurement/sourcing/commercial/contracts
• 8 years industrial experience
• Exposure with dynamic results oriented Procurement across Platinum/Gold/Underground mining/construction industries
• MS Excel ADVANCED (Reporting/Pivotal Tables)
• SAP Preferred
• Ability to travel unhindered and stay on site (Limpopo) as necessary

Role / Responsibilities
Responsible for on a project basis.
• Negotiate spot purchases for capital projects implement contracts and manage related work processes typically on large capital projects
• Creates value by providing appropriate input into the development and implementation of sourcing strategies as well as for the implementation of commercial agreements and spot purchase orders.
• Responsible for various sourcing activities pertaining to running the business and contract management as well as providing support for the Supply Manager in implementing and executing strategy and agreements
• Support all clients in the business and functions that these category areas support by applying market knowledge and tactical negotiation skills the main objective will be to add value to the discipline commodity you will be sourcing and to maximize value delivery
• Where applicable, may draft negotiate and ultimately own a contract with a supplier

Skills and Knowledge
• Working knowledge of purchasing fundamentals and procurement work processes and policies
• Ability to focus on value delivery and maintaining sustainable competitive advantages
• Effective negotiator and able to persuade others (internal and external clients) through effective communication skills
• Financial and market analysis skills and effectively manipulate and analyse data
• Initiative to challenge inefficiencies and process deviations
• Strong data analysis skills to effectively identify value opportunities
• Proficiency with applicable Microsoft applications (Excel Word PowerPoint)
• The ability to work across cultures and geographies
