SOURCING SPECIALIST Purchasing Department
This position reports to: Procurement Manager
The Purpose: The principal function of the Sourcing Specialist is to ensure continuity of supply for production and actively support Engineering with the selection and specification of the most suitable products from the most suitable vendor during design/update phases.
Responsibilities
Areas of responsibility include inter alia the following:
? Cost effective procurement of products from local and international markets.
? Sourcing of products that will improve company’’s financial results.
? Liaise with Suppliers and Internal departments – ensure service / price quality of required standard.
? Cost effective procurement and expediting of products to prevent production stoppages / non-supply to customers.
? Ensure products procured conform to all quality requirements and regulations.
? Correct implementation of new vendors.
? Challenge specifications / suppliers where applicable. Accurate administration and maintenance of relevant purchasing records. Share information on new market trends / products / developments.
? Liaise timeously with Engineering of any proposed changes to existing materials and/or components, or any new developments, which could be beneficial to the Company.
? Ensure all company and departmental procedures are strictly adhered to.
? Ensure that the relevant vendors are aware of, and conform to, company’s Quality Requirements and Procedures.
? Check to ensure that all incoming purchase requisitions are clear, unambiguous and authorised in accordance with the Company’s requirements & Signature Mandate.
? Actively promote good communication by providing timeous feedback to management and other interested parties of all relevant information.
? Undertake special tasks, from time to time, as deemed necessary.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements
? Grade 12 (Matric)
? Electrical Diploma or Mechanical Diploma or Related Qualification
? Purchasing Diploma or Degree would be an advantage
? Minimum 2 years as a Buyer of raw material in an industry similar to CBI
? Computer Literacy – Ms Office / BPCS
? Market Product knowledge would be an advantage
