Spunbond Machine Technician
Area: Johannesburg
Package: negotiable between R45000 and R60000 CTC P/M depending on experience and qualifications
Purpose of the position: The main purpose is to efficiently, safely perform operation/maintaining including set up, start-up of line equipment, including auxiliary equipment, tooling changes, monitoring and testing, as well production reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
• Grade 12 or technical Matric.
• Proficiency with multiple manufacturers’ automation hardware and software
• 3-5 years Spundbond machine experience (Non-negotiable)
• Mechanical background preferred
• Experience in the manufacturing environment would be highly beneficial
• Ability to work in a plant environment for extended periods of time (high temperature/high humidity environment)
• Ability to work weekends and public holidays

• Able to handle extreme pressure, prioritise and multi-task
• Strength and stamina to work with heavy equipment

• Ability to read and visualize blueprints
• Ability to comprehend, analyze and troubleshoot mechanical systems

Roles and Responsibilities
• Assist the Millwright in the maintenance of specialized machines
• Work in a team and ensuring the complete functioning of all machinery
• Strong knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes
• Get necessary quotes for all spare part of machines or newly designed parts as per drawings
• Get quotes for contractors to assist with manufacturing of specialized parts and to ensure the quality is of a high standard
• Maintain and test all equipment / machinery to ensure functionality, safety and availability to complete work within the specified timeframe and budgetary limits
• Ensure that components causing excessive downtime are identified and permanent solutions are found and implemented
• Be responsible for the diagnosis, testing and repair of electrical and mechanical failures on equipment
• Interpret mechanical circuit diagrams
• Ensure that all equipment is maintained through utilising the right tools, work instruments and within safety regulations
• Be responsible for ensuring equipment/machinery is tested for functionality and safety before being returned to production
• Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
• Assembling of machines
• Testing all relevant machine parts before final assembling
• On call and standby for major and minor equipment failures
• Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly equipment inspections, checking mechanical, operations, etc.
• General housekeeping and ensure OHS Act compliance
