Our client, a leading international mining group, is looking for an experienced and qualified Superintendent Technical Specialist Engineering Network person at their Regional ICT Department in Libanon near Westonaria.

Summary:

The role of a Superintendent Technical Specialist Engineering Network is effective liaison with Service Providers to ensure efficient service delivery, to manage and coordinate service providers and vendors to achieve maximum benefit to the business and timeous resolution of problems and incidents.

The appointee should:

Have an IT Degree and /or B Com in Information Systems
Have 5 years’ experience in solving network problems of infrastructure issues to manage the performance and capacity of the industrial networking environment, including the supervision of projects and technical personnel
Willing to travel if and when required
Have a valid SA driver's license with own transport
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre

Advantageous requirements:

ITIL foundation
Have HiEs or HiNP certification

Key responsibilities include:

Be a role model for Sibanye-Stillwater organizational culture by creating a positive impact at every touchpoint with people, with every word you say or put in print and everything you do
Administrative: Risk analysis and management, documentation management, information access controls and sanctions for failure to comply
SOX Compliance
Management of complex network environments
Creating and maintaining technical networking diagrams and drawings
Adhere to Sibanye ICT policies and procedures
Securities and monitoring, hardening best practice – solid understanding and implementation
Troubleshooting – Networking
Fibre works required and understanding of fibre networks
Patching, risk analysis and business impact
Vulnerability analysis
Reporting, investigation, feedback
Networking and routing, iptables firewalling
Plan and manage the delivery of networks
Provide a stable platform for the delivery of IoT computer systems which meet current and future business requirements
New products and services are evaluated against architectural frameworks, standards and policies
Coordinate the rollout of firmware updates, network rearrangements, and the installation of new equipment and facilities with Repair, Engineering, and Field Operations, minimizing Customer impact and maximizing the productivity of resources
Ensure the proactive use of applicable tools to monitor network performance and be alerted when set thresholds are reached
To plan and position the data and voice communications network to meet current requirements and future business challenges
To ensure that all networking devices have a reliable backup to be used to restore either systems or data
To ensure that the correct authorisations requested for creation, deletions and moves are correctly captured within the system and comply with the license agreements
Ensure the network infrastructure has sufficient capacity to satisfy the data requirements (no congestion)
An evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses in the current data communications network structures and the identification of areas for improvement and short and long term plans to remedy these
Ensure available options are identified and tested to maintain uninterrupted business continuity in the case of network failures
Effective liaison with Service Providers to ensure efficient service delivery
Researched alternative technological solutions to provide effective connectivity to support business systems
New and changing technical advances are anticipated and factored into network communications solutions in conjunction with overall architecture
New Installations and upgrades are planned with reference to the Enterprise Technical Roadmap and standards
Optimisation of the networks to meet the specific demands of the business
The corrective patch levels of the equipment are maintained
The corrected firmware levels of the equipment are applied
Ensure 24/7 uptime on network
Provide daily backup of critical data in the communications environment
Disaster plans are tested to ensure that systems are fully recoverable
Improvements implemented to enhance the disaster recovery process
Updating of network diagrams
Follow change control process for any changes
Liaise with business units to understand current and future requirements
Planning monitoring and maintenance of routing
To manage and coordinate service providers and vendors to achieve maximum benefit to the business and timeous resolution of problems and incidents
Patching of hardware and software is maintained, to an acceptable level
