Technical Manager (FMCG)

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Must have extensive knowledge and experience in Food Safety System Audits (BRC & UK- IBL Audit requirements)
• To ensure Quality Management Systems are developed and implemented to reduce variability and improve product and service quality
• Audit quality control systems
• Implement and manage the quality control and Hygiene teams, setting objectives
• Lead and assure the integrity of the organisation, customers reputation
• Drive systemic performance improvement in the department
• Lead the quality and hygiene integrated management systems
• Ability to analyse problems and make recommendations/decisions and perform statistical analysis
• Liaise with the customer and report on complaints
• Ensure products dispatched meet end product specification(s)
• SOP's and that related documents are generated, maintained, followed to ensure effectiveness
• Plan internal audits
• Ensure corrective, preventative & improvement actions are implemented
• Continual improvement techniques and methods
• Ability to Lead, plan organise and control personnel
• Team player with the ability to lead positively, interacting with all internal and external customer/departments.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum BSc (Hons) in Food Science or similar
• Minimum of 5-10 Years' experience in a similar role in FMCG, in a fresh food / perishables industry and a minimum of 7 years, experience dealing with UK and EU Retailers and Customer base
• Auditing Qualification
• Good understanding of the principles of HACCP and manufacturing principles
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills
• In depth understanding of prepared fruit and produce
• Food Safety and quality procedures and relevant legal requirements in both South Africa, UK and Europe
• Proven problem solver with ability, confidence and presence to make decisions under pressure.
