The Investment Associate (Technical Specialist) is primarily responsible for sourcing deals, conducting investment feasibility assessments, development of appropriate business and financial modelling tools, ensuring performance of the loan book, providing guidance and supervisory services to Junior Investment Associate as well as assisting the Senior Investment Associate and Investment Head in reviewing funding proposals.
This work also entails conducting due diligence, preparation of funding motivations and presentations to the relevant approval committees when required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Requirements:
• B. Com Degree (Accounting, Finance or Economics)
• Minimum of 3 - 4 years’ experience in a deal making environment.
• Business acumen demonstrating strong understanding of due diligence processes and ability to assess commercial opportunities and determine the key successes/failures in a proposal
• Analytical skills demonstrating extensive understanding of financial modelling and advanced computer skills
• Ability to negotiate complex financial transactions
• Extensive knowledge of deal structuring and financial modelling
• Understanding of Business valuation methodologies
• Exceptional report writing, presentation and communication skills

Investment Origination, Analysis and Performance
 
Deal Origination
• Sourcing and assessing viability of deals
• Screening of deals and preparing deal screen reports for review and sign-off by Senior Investment Associate
• Building networks and utilizing professional relationship to yield a flow of quality leads
• Establishing and managing relationships with clients, financial institutions, sector players and other counter parties for originating and sourcing of the deals.
• Representing organisation at relevant conferences and round table discussions when required,
Deal Analysis, negotiations and Evaluation
• Compiling and coordinating the due diligence process / work plan (including preparation of Indicative Term Sheets, involvement of other teams (e.g. Risk, Legal & Compliance), liaison with applicant, etc.)
• Conducting due diligence, managing risk by ensuring quality of due diligence and preparing report for review and approval
• Performing detailed financial analysis and providing input on the deal structure, terms and pricing to ensure long term sustainability / viability of the investment
• Preparing and/or reviewing financial models in line with standard guidelines and templates
• Preparing funding motivations and supporting organisation in presenting the deal to approval committees
• Preparing approval letters and Term Sheets
• Collaborating with other funding institutions to minimize organisation exposure and investment risk.
Managing the fund to ensure:
• Proper management of inquiries
• Optimal sourcing of quality deals
• Preliminary assessment and screening of deals within per-agreed timelines
• Effective support to the due diligence process, writing of funding motivations and presentation of investment report to approval committees
• Effective management of Conditions Precedent and ensure that transactions are implemented and disbursed as approved
• That Junior Investment Associate produces work of quality standard and adheres to submission deadlines as agreed from time to time
• Customer satisfaction throughout the investment life cycle
Loan book performance
• Establishing and maintaining good professional relationship with organisations clients
• Reviewing reports on loan performance
• Discussing and resolving early warning loan challenges
• Participating in Portfolio Management Meetings and other collaboration activities as may be discussed with from time to time
