Purpose of Position:

Complement Recruitment are recruiting for a Technical Supervisor for the Quality & Technical Department from within the motor automotive industry in Port Elizabeth. This is a permanent position, Monday-Friday 07:30am – 17:00pm. Primarily responsible for accomplishing the department workflow by supervising staff, overseeing and communicating adjustment, body shop and pre deliver inspection requirements effectively. Reporting into the Quality & Technical Manager. Salary: R20-30k Basic + Benefits

Qualified Diesel Mechanic
Master Technician Certification
Experience within a Master Technician position
Experience in a supervisory position

Ensure adherence to the company`s rules and regulations as documented in the company`s disciplinary policy;
Ensure adherence to all health and safety practices and procedures as defined during induction and other health & Safety training;
Ensure and maintain constant workflow;
Ensure that the daily and monthly targets are met as assigned by management;
Ensure that monthly delivery plan is completed as assigned by management;
Ensure that catch up plans are given and met by due dates if daily or delivery plan is not met;
Ensure to promote Teamwork in team talks with effective communication between your Team and supporting departments;
Ensure to allocate the workload evenly amongst your subordinates;
Ensure that your daily reports are submitted timeously to your Manager or as delegated;
Ensure that the WIP plan is carried out as received;
Ensure weekly rotation plan for test line and PDI centre duties are followed as per the schedule provided;
Ensure vehicles are moved to the next process upon completion of tasks;
Oversee, ensure and verify that vehicle technician’s repair and sign off on all items listed on the vehicle job card as completed;
Oversee and ensure vehicle technicians have completed the daily task sheet and received on or before the end of each shift;
Oversee and ensure all reject forms are completed and authorization is obtained from the Quality
Department in order to request replacement parts from the warehouse;
Oversee and ensure repairs to electrical systems and circuits are repaired as identified on the vehicle job card;
Oversee and ensure amp-hour meters are fitted to vehicles as per model requirements;
Oversee and ensure wiring for PTO switches are installed as per model requirements;
Oversee and ensure diagnostics and repairs to ABS systems are conducted by using the ABS testing machine provided;
Oversee that trailers plugs are modified and fitted to all vehicles as per each model requirements;
Oversee and ensure that trailer plugs and lights are in good working order and tested with the necessary equipment provided before fitment;
Ensure permission is obtained from the Quality Manager for any major component repairs or replacements;
Lead in solving the technical, technological, tooling and other problems found in the production process of assembling, adjustment, and stock-in of vehicles, and continue to optimize and improve parts or processes;
Form a corresponding report and feedback on the problems found, follow up with the problem-solving progress and provide the feedback timeously;
Responsible for collecting technical and technological issues from sales, after-sales, other branches and other departments of the company;

Lead in the formulation of the technical and the process standards that can assist in the development of accurate SOPs;
Implement the standards, track the progress and continuously update when continues improvements are made;
When changes are made it need to be published to the entire company when it comes to technical, process standards and vehicle rectification;
Track the implementation of other branches to ensure standards being implemented correctly;
Lead the organizing in compiling the product’s technological (technical drawings) documents for any local assembly or changes;
Design the technical equipment and be responsible for the verification and improvement of the technical and tooling according to the technical and quality needs;
Design the matching plan for production facilities and equipment;
Assist the company headquarters with the certification of new products;
Responsible for solving issues and also to train and support the adjustment team with issues and training and facilitating;
Perform random audits as specified for each model truck when required;
Scanning of all completed trucks into stock for sales to be able to collect timeously;
Oversee and ensure that all vehicles worked on have been locked and that the keys are handed back to the stock controller on or before the end of each shift;
Ensure daily tasks and requirements are carried out effectively in the event of absenteeism;
Ensure to investigate and diagnose any component failures detected;
Oversee and ensure that replaced parts are fitted correctly and retested;
Ensure that all tools are inspected daily and remain in good working order;
Oversee and assist with new technical designs for welding & assembly components in the Body shop;
Oversee and ensure that all technical information, measurements, and process for improvements on cab skews are documented and actioned;
Oversee and ensure that all technical information is correct for the fitment of control valves, hydraulic pumps and pipes are fitted correctly as per the model requirements;
Oversee and ensure all air pipes are fitted in line with the technical requirements to all vehicles as per model design;
Co-ordinate all modifications that are required from after-sales on parts and processes when required;
Participate and attend all meetings as delegated;
Attend daily and monthly feedback meetings or as required;
Ensure to enforce discipline within the department in line with the company policies and procedures;
