Large company based in the Vaal has a permanent position available for a Transport Manager to join their highly dynamic team
QUALIFICATION / SKILLS
• Grade 12
• Relevant tertiary qualification – Logistics / Transport management
• At least 4 years experience in a similar position
• Excellent planner and well organized / Inspiring leader / excellent communicator
• Excellent computer skills (Outlook / Excel– At least Intermediate level/Transport specific system – knowledge of PNT will be an added advantage)
• Must be an inspiring leader and able to work with a cultural diverse work team
• Analytical ability and good financial skills
• Be able to quickly adapt to change upholding a positive attitude

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Key task is to organize the safe and efficient distribution of goods.
- Ensure that orders are to be carried out correctly
- Analyse logistical problems and planning transportation routes.
- Organize shipments and liaise with customers
- Interact with service providers (transport companies) which transport as third party services
- Coordinate drivers, vehicle loads and journeys
- Utilize relevant system to manage optimal loading, route planning, delivery times and optimizing costs
- Analyse data to unpack performance constraints, correct logistical problems and implement improvement plan
- Negotiating and agreeing on contracts
- Planning for and negotiating technical difficulties
- Managing and control manpower, practices, procedures and fleet according to statutory requirements
- Managing staff according to relevant procedures and culture – inspiring leadership
- Ensuring that Safety, Health and statutory requirements are met
- Ensuring that vehicles are maintained according to specifications
- May be required to work overtime and ad hoc week end work
- Budget in terms of all relevant factors such as vehicle maintenance, commodities and manpower and manage expenses accordingly
- Report on a regular basis to Despatch Manager in terms of optimal loading and cost / km
