Trend Analyst – Fashion Retail (Cape Town)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Trend Analyst for a leading Ladies Fashion Brand. You will be responsible for executing trend strategy, and conceptualising, designing, co-ordinating & executing all facets of product styling.

You will possess a strong eye for fashion with the ability to create stories of product and trend in line with customer requirements

You will satisfy the following minimum criteria/requirements:

• Matric and Degree/Diploma in Fashion, Fashion Design or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in design, with proven experience in Women’s apparel
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in trend forecasting / trend analyst role
• Demonstrated trend experience particularly in womens outerwear areas
• Capable of applying an analytical approach when advising/offering trend information to business
• Experience working with advertising and briefing of marketing/agencies in apparel retail
• Awareness of current and new developments of trends in advertising, design, art, photography and technology
• The ability to propose and prepare appropriate trends, key items, colour, styling, fabrics and prints (including hair and make-up styling) in an exciting, understandable and appropriate format to produce key “top-to-toe” looks
• Good strategic, conceptual skills and a solid knowledge of the South African retail climate and landscape


Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

• Researching international Visual Merchandising trends and updating internal Visual Merchandising teams on new trends
• Remaining current with new developments and trends in advertising, design, art, photography and technology
• Analysing what other retailers are doing in an effort to identify important trends in retail fashion
• Ensuring that the company campaigns are current and “trendy” and competitive with the marketplace
• Understanding the market, the trend, the customer, and what is happening in the retail landscape
• Being connected on social media and fashion platforms
• Creating stories with Designer of product and technical drawings and trend in line with customer mind- set
• Creating content of how to wear the look / styling

Location: Successful incumbent will primarily be based in Cape Town.
