Our client, a leading international Mining Group is looking for an experienced and qualified Taxation Unit Manager at their Regional Offices in Libanon near Westonaria.

Summary:
The role of a Unit Manager Taxation is to calculate South Africa Region provisional tax payments to the South African Revenue Service and review of the Group and Regional provisional tax, income tax, PAYE and VAT returns.

The appointee should:
Hold a relevant BCOM with Accounting
Have a Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a corporate taxation advisory and compliance related role within the mining sector covering all the taxation related elements
Have strong planning and analytical skills
Have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to interact independently with senior business partners, external advisors and the Regional/Group Executive team
Be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Be self-motivated and be able to work within a team environment
Be fully computer literate
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre

Tax Post degree

Key responsibilities include:

Mining Taxation/Services Entities and the Gold Formula: required to assist in the review of the mining taxation calculations of Sibanye region on a monthly basis;
Calculate South Africa Region provisional tax payments to the South African Revenue Service and review of the Group and Regional provisional tax, income tax, PAYE and VAT returns;
Mining Royalty Act: responsible for the calculation of the royalty payable as well as completing and submitting the returns when due;
Research and draft position papers on all taxation related topics arising for the region;
Assist with the annual Audit sign off on tax matters;
Advise Region and Group in respect of their VAT compliance, VAT planning, VAT controls etc
Prepare calculations of research for accurate submissions, including documentation requirements in accordance with the revenue services and other statutory bodies;
Understand and complete required tax software, recommend new features and updates, assist with the quarterly and annual provision and submission process;
Respond to related tax correspondence, audit reports and research issues as they arise;
Assist with tax audits as they arise, prepare annual compliance documents for Regional Exco and other regulatory committees;
Advisory service to the company relating to tax changes and how it will affect the company;
Liaise closely with SARS and other external advisory tax services in order to ensure tax compliance, minimise tax liability, and improve on tax practices and submissions;
Comply with the relevant regulatory requirements in the submission of documents and strict record keeping compliance;
Manage tax relating to any Trusts well documented within regulatory requirements;
Provide guidance on indirect taxation issues such as VAT and environmental taxes
