Experience:
Significant experience in managing inpatient clinical practice at a band 6 level
Significant experience in managing clinical practice at a band 6
Significant experience in managing and monitoring clinical standards at a band 6
Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care.
Ability to analyse and manage complex issues
Ability to Manage Change
Ability to delegate appropriately
An ability to develop a therapeutic relationship.
Ability to appreciate the Role of the Ward Manager and how to balance clinical and non-clinical responsibilities.
Ability to nurse patients with care and compassion

Skills and Abilities:
Skilled in the communication of sensitive issues
Skilled in supervision of others, and in providing critical and constructive feedback
Ability to present information both written and oral and communicate this effectively
Ability to role model, reflect and provide evidence of conflict resolution
Skilled in supervision of others, and in providing critical and constructive feedback
Clinical skills relevant to the post applied for
Skilled in the assessment and monitoring of common physical health problems and able to deliver appropriate care
Experience of supervising and mentoring junior staff and students

Knowledge:
A knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems.
Experience of racial awareness/diversity training
Current up to date knowledge of relevant legislation

Desirable:
Diploma/Degree course
Experience of /involvement in project work
Experience of recruitment and selection of staff
Ability to use computerised information and communication systems
Ability to facilitate groups
Research and audit skills
Ability to provide relevant training to the service
