Our client, a specialist in the Design and Manufacturing industry is looking for an experienced and qualified Senior Welder at their factory in Kya Sands in Johannesburg.

Must have the following attributes:

• Lives near the factory – Kya Sand – so Jhb north type areas
• Takes responsibility for area, team and equipment
• Uses initiative
• Comes up with better methods and willing to share advice and insights
• Happy to get stuck in and do the work and not only try and manage, this is more important than leadership qualities

Main Responsibility

Control and Ensure, by leading by example on all Welding, are according to the correct specifications as detailed on the job cards and engineering drawings, with the company quality specification and according to company welding procedure & customer requirements.

General Tasks/Duties
Ensure with all welders the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
Ensure that the set up of components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
Ensure the operation of angle grinders are used to prepare the parts that must be welded
Ensure the aligning of components by using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
Ensure the welding of components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
Ensure all Machinery is kept clean and well maintained.
Ensure that all welds are visually inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
Ensuring that all worked times are correctly written on the Job card (Start of job Time to end of job Time)
Control all welding procedure & customer requirements are according to quality specification
Ensure that all labour on jobs are booked at least twice a day or with in 24 hour. This will be a KPI Measurable.

Specific Skills Required
Weld qualification ASME IX
Advanced welding Performance and according to welding standards
Advanced with Stick, MiG and Tig welding
Must be a coded welder
Must understand different welding procedure and process
A good Knowledge on acceptance and nonacceptance of welding, based on company requirements
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
Quick and skillful with attention to detail

Trade Certificate
