Located in the Fezile Dabi District of the Free State Province is where the little town of Frankfort can be found. Founded in 1878 Frankfort counts a little more than 2600 inhabitants today, the majority of which speaks Sotho, followed by Zulu. Frankfort is situated on the banks of the Vaal River and thus very close to the Vaal Dam, one of the largest dams in South Africa. The Vaal River is a popular spot to do multiple water sports as well as fishing. The main economic activity in the peaceful Frankfurt is farming. Numerous grass fields where cattle is being fed surround Frankfort.
