As an accountant, you need to have professional accounting qualifications. A qualified accountant ultimately works to improve the efficiency of an organisation and also to maximize the profitability. Integrity, IT, numerical skills, analytical ability, self-motivation, creativity, excellent commercial interest in business, the ability to work in a team, interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, are the key skills that accountants require. Your work, as an accountant, will generally consist of undertaking financial administration, financial forecasting and risk analysis, negotiating business terms with clients and associated organisations, administering payrolls, ensuring compliance with taxation legislation, preparing reports, budgets, business plans, commentaries and financial statements, liaising with managerial staff and also colleagues and clients.
