I am a senior SQL developer/Data engineer with over 20 years commercial experience, who is seeking to further develop his skills in a challenging environment. I consider myself analytical and methodical with strong problem-solving abilities which, when tempered with good client facing skills and commercial realism, affords me the ability to work within strict deadlines to see a project through its full lifecycle. I started off doing MS Access and VBA work, and then naturally progressed to SQL Server when data, and the needs for larger data, escalated. Apart from the obvious t-sql scripting, performance tuning and architecture, I was exposed to the other facets of SQL (SSIS, SSRS) and have subsequently been doing more ETL and data-warehouse based work. What interests me in the future is the cloud, so AWS and Azure, and I have enjoyed playing around with Python. That being said I am hungry for knowledge and consider every role an opportunity to better myself. I would love to work in an environment that is fun, but focused, knowledge is shared and, should issues arise, they are collectively delbt with for the greater good, as opposed to playing the blame game.
