My name is Naledi Mketo. I am a 27 year old from Cape Town, South Africa and I have been teaching and living in China for the past four years. I’ve always had a strong passion for teaching and an ambition to travel so teaching abroad has always been the natural choice. After spending about two years working as an Aupair in San Francisco California, my desire to teach and continue to travel grew even more so I obtained my TEFL certification and moved to China where I have been teaching various ages for the past four plus years. In these past few years I have taught grades 1 through 6 with students ranging from 6 years old to 11 years old at Nanshan Bilingual School in Mianyang, China, as well as 3 to 6 year olds at Soong Ching Ling International Kindergarten in Chengdu. I am currently teaching students of similar ages in Nanjing at Giraffe American English Training Center in Nanjing where my students are between the ages of 3 and with class size of about 10 students. My job duties have included lesson planning, helping in the organization of special school events such as various holiday activities and ceremonies, conducting parent/teacher meetings as well as writing EYFS learning progress reports. Prior to teaching in China, I worked as an Au Pair in California from 2012 to 2024. I’ve also worked as a waitress and briefly as a receptionist. Having worked with people from various backgrounds and cultures, I find it easy to work well in challenging situations. I’m a very fast learner and self motivated.
