Childline Gauteng is an organisation which begun under the umbrella of the South African Society acting in prevention of child abuse and neglect. Child Line in time was then taken over and run by the Johannesburg Children's home as a project consisting of 2 telephone lines and 2 volunteers answering calls for needed help. Childline Gauteng has grown vastly considerable at the time of opening, and now gladly operates from 7 Community-Based Centres (CBC's) within the Gauteng Province (Inner City, Soweto, Diepsloot, Tembisa, Katlehong, Orange Farm and Sebokeng). Childline is aware and understands the genuine caring and nurture for those victims who have suffered abuse, is the key necessity to the healing process. Their workforce consists of 45 torch-bearers who sincerely devote all their attention to protecting and securing even the most vulnerable targeted children in their society through a vast variety of services and programs
