Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd has followed a series of episodes which now results in this successful business .They introduced an drilling and exploration programme in the early mid 1960s ,the mine initial production capacity was at 100.00 ounces of platinum which was established North of Rustenburg .The first blast took place on the 3rd June 1967 and in November 1968 with a lease covering 27,00 acres , mainly owned by the Bafokeng Tribe, now known as the Royal Bafokeng Nation ,which turned into Impala Platinum . The production here began in 1969 . For the first twelve years the Merensky Reef was the only active mine. They specialise in the mining, refining and marketing of platinum group metals (PGMs) which includes nickel, copper and cobalt. In the 2012 financial year Impala produced” 1.45Moz of platinum (approximately 25% of global supply) and 3.02Moz of PGMs. ”Which results in career growth opportunities , Impala employs 63.000 people which includes contactors across all operations of the business . It is one of the lowest, most efficient platinum produces in the world.
