Peninsula Beverage Company (Pty) Ltd (PenBev) holds the franchise to bottle Coca-Cola products in the Western Cape and Northern Cape and offers a wide range of carbonated and non-carbonated nonalcoholic beverages. The company officially opened for business in 1940 with the first plant in Marine Drive, Paarden Eiland followed eight years later by a new plant in Mowbray was opened. The plant in Mowbray remained there until 1966 when it moved to the current headquarters in Parow Industria. The rapid expansion of PenBev led to the construction new factories and depots in Athlone Industria, Paarl, Vredenburg, Blackheath and Worcester. The PenBev’s mission is to deliver a quality Coca-Cola product "within an arm's reach of desire" PenBev ensures that retailers and traders are supported with on-time deliveries, free signage and coolers, in-store advertising and promotions, and advice on making their businesses more profitable. PenBev employs over 1 300 people. To ensure Safety, Health, Environment & Quality systems are maintained by conforming to Coca-Cola standards, SABS, as well as required legislation, the company works on a set of management systems that provide strict guidelines. PenBevs manufacturing facility confirms to the strictest standards and is certified against international standards for: Quality (ISO9001); Environment (ISO14001); Health and Safety (ISO18001); Food Safety (ISO22000) and Housekeeping and Hygiene Standards (PAS220).
