Work on a Cruise Ship

Working in a cruise ship is one of the most exhilarating experiences of a lifetime. This line of work will allow you to interact with people with different nationalities and languages while visiting different countries worldwide. On top of this experience is the financial reward that could be used for future plans.

Opportunity as a Cruise Ship Photographer

One of the best methods of gaining employment in a cruise ship is through photography. Employment agencies, on behalf on cruise ships will screen candidates with physical and artistic capabilities in becoming a photographer. Those who pass the screening will take up a short photography course lasting from two to three weeks. Applicants who were able to complete and pass the training will be offered employment by cruise ships and the contract usually last six months.

Physical Requirements for Cruise Ships

Strenuous and detailed medical exam is often conducted cruise ship workers. Tattoos are not allowed and any medical condition will limit the chances of employment. That is why applicants are thoroughly inspected by the employment agency before offering any possibility of work in a cruise ship. Age requirement for joining the cruise ship is from 21 to 29 years old.

Documentation for Cruise Ship Work

Most cruise ship workers will be required two types of documentation on top of standard passport: The C-1/D Visa and the Schengen Visa. The first Visa is a requirement for passing through USA while the Schengen Visa is a requirement in passing through different European countries. The C-1/D Visa is also issued to passengers going through USA as a stop-over. The Schengen Visa also allows holders to stay in any country part of the Schengen treaty for no more than 90 days.

Work Environment

Although cruise ship work could be a chance to meet different personalities and visit different places around the world, work is not for the faint of heart. Expect extended work hours as some guests would like to stay until the wee hours of the morning and other guests prefers to wake up early and enjoy the cruise ship in the morning. On the other hand, amenities and lodging are more than adequate for cruise ship employees as facilities for sports and leisure are also available.
