Actuarial Business Partner
Sandton, Johannesburg

Work as part of a team tasked with providing actuarial services to the life entities in the Rest of Africa, producing and explaining the life financial results in all aspects of reporting.

The team works closely with the Africa Executive team, central reporting team and in-country finance and actuarial teams in producing results that drive decision making to help accomplish the growth strategy.
In addition, the team has strong working relationships with the Statutory and Country Actuaries of the various countries.

Financial Reporting:
• Ensure that valuation results are produced accurately, with appropriate supporting commentary.
• Ownership of the custom-built Prophet models and other models, for calculation of liabilities, embedded value and capital in various African countries
• Monthly management reporting, forecasting, business planning, biannual IFRS and MCEV reporting as well as capital reporting to regulators.

Capital Management:
• Calculation and/or review of regulatory and internal solvency positions for various African life entities.

Bonus Declarations:
• Ensure that the underlying calculations that feed into bonus recommendations are produced on time and are accurate.

Business Planning / Forecasting:
• Support the team that provides forecasting and ongoing monitoring (outside of valuation periods) of the financial impacts of the strategy

Business Support:
• Support businesses in maximising growth within a robust risk framework.

IFRS17:
• Support various African life entities and the IFRS17 project team to ensure successful implementation of the new reporting standards

General:
• Ensure that all actuarial processes are performed as efficiently as possible, finding and delivering continuous process improvement and standardisation opportunities as well as ensuring processes are performed with appropriate controls.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• Actuarial student with 9 Actuarial exams
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience
• Must be a motivated self-starter
• Must have strong technical skills
• Must have initiative
• Must be able to interact effectively with people at all levels
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work in a team
• Must have high levels of drive and energy
