Our client requires the service of an Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper who will be responsible for several companies (Body Corporate and/or Home Own Association) accounts (cash book and general ledgers). The Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper will also be responsible for recording all transactions and post expenses and income.

Key performance areas:

? Capture and allocate Cashbook data for several companies (Bodies Corporate + HOA) bank accounts.
? Prepares monthly bank reconciliations and related General Ledgers Accounts.
? Process Accounts Receivable payments in correct accounts.
? Responsible for managing Accounts Receivable balances within defined company payments terms.
? Oversee work of Managing Agent
? Assisting managing agent with resolving client invoice and statement queries
? Assisting managing agent with drawing up of budgets
? Review Accounts Payable reconciliations and related General Ledger reconciliations.
? Processing and month end provisions and reconciliations of general ledger.
? Preparation of Statutory Submissions and VAT returns
? Retrieves documentation and provides information for the Auditor, as required, during the annual audit.
? Provide back-up assistance to other members of the team on request of director.
? Consistently demonstrates willingness to assist managing agents with tasks to ensure smooth operations in department.
? Contributes positively towards a professional and pleasant working environment in department and company.
? Always communicates professionally with colleagues and managers.

The successful candidate must have:

? Matric with a Degree/Diploma in Accounting/Auditing
? Must have at least 3 years relevant experience
? Excellent computer literacy (MS Office - Word, Excel & Outlook)
? Must have experience in Pastel and similar accounting systems
? Must have an understanding of VAT
? Proven ability to compile and present spread sheet data
? Ability to use own initiative
? Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
? Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
? Professional personal and telephone manner
? Must be able to work accurately under pressure, prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and have strong problem solving skills
? Strong attention to detail
? Must have excellent numerical skills
? Must have a valid driver’s license with own reliable transport
? Must be willing to work overtime when needed
