B Degree Underground Mine Planner–Gauteng
Permanent Position
Must have either a B Degree or equivalent qualification in Mining Engineering OR Survey OR Geology OR Geotechnical
Must have experience and Know relevant control room systems (Optimine, Ampla, Draw/load Control system)
Must have Minimum 5 years post graduate experience in an underground Mining environment of which 3 years are managerial experience skills
Valid drivers’ license
Computer Literacy (Intermediate / Advanced)
Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency but not essential
Management Development Programme (MDP) or equivalent but not essential
Must have experience and know and understand the Mines production targets, security systems, standards, policies and procedures.
Must have experience and skill in identifying and analysing hazards and risks
Be able to monitor process efficiency and identify opportunity for improvement.
Demonstrate proven skill in Design/scheduling software (Studio5d, Aegis, 3d CAD/MineRP Planner, EPS, Excel)
Experience regarding specifications, requirements and objectives of the business plan
Must have experience and Know and understand the mining process.
Must have experience and Know relevant control room systems (Optimine, Ampla, Draw/load Control system)
Must have gained experience Know and understand the best practice principles
Reporting to the Manager: Technical Services
Duties
Leading and managing the Mine planning processes and to develop effective methods to meet the Mine’s business plan. Responsible for leading a team through different planning levels taking into consideration the input parameters (technology, markets, mineral resources and legal framework) to align business strategy with business performance.
Responsibilities:
Interpret production requirements to develop a production plan to ensure the effective utilisation of resources and the attainment of production targets.
Responsible to do trade-off studies, assist with equipment selection and other trials as required.
Responsible to obtain and manage applicable resources needed.
Control and co-ordinate all activities to achieve optimum production throughput, process efficiency, product security and information integrity
Responsible to track the delivery of projects within agreed timelines, budget and quality.
Responsible to respond to risks in area of responsibility.
Monthly and daily breakdown of production and development plans provided from Group long term planning. (Shift roster and production calendar)
Prepare and track progress of monthly plan vs actual with Operational Technical Services Managers, Group Mine Planning and Group Draw Control and forecast revision of plan.
Reporting, Monitoring & Evaluation, Audit: Ensure that all Technical Services - Planning reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.
Advise on mines operational effectiveness by mining responsibly in accordance to best practice principles.
Ensure compliance to best practices and mining technical standards and take corrective action when required
Evaluate processes or systems or products or new developments to identify opportunities and deficiencies to ensure continuous improvement.
Collect and keep record of production information, draft reports and presentations as required. (And Present)
Responsible for document control for the planning department/section.
Engagement & Communication: Establish & maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the Technical Services/Planning Function.
Responsible to co-ordinate shift calls with Mine Overseer and Managers to Control rooms.
Responsible to ensure that all people in the section are trained and up-skilled.
