Our client who is an importer, exporter and distributor of seafood products is looking to appoint a Bookkeeper to their plant in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. The successful candidate should have at least 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping up to trial balance and will report the Financial Manager. The person will be responsible to maintain accurate accounting on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations.

Key responsibilities will include:

Processing bank reconciliations; Processing of petty cash and liaise with the shop and reconcile on month-end; Processing of import payments, LC’s, FBCI, OTT, etc.; Check, review and capture Import costing; Retrieve report for Nedbank audit; Review and sign of Bank Reconciliations at month-end; Capturing factoring account, Nedlib, Call, Current, Dollar & Euro account; Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts, weekly / monthly; wages journal weekly and monthly; Process VAT Recon – submit to FM for sign off and then submit on SARS, review monthly and make sure that queries are managed; and all other bookkeeping functions up to trial balance.

Qualifications:

A minimum of matric, Diploma or Certificate in Accounting/Bookkeeping, excellent skills in Excel and good knowledge in SAP software.

Experience required:

At least 5 years in Bookkeeping up to Trial Balance.
Experience in the food and/or seafood industries would be beneficial.
