Our client in Cape Town, who supplies a range of products and services to companies in various economic sectors in South Africa and Southern Africa, wants to appoint a Business Unit (BU) Manager for their Subsidiary Business based in Pemba, Mozambique within the Cabo Delgado Province.

The Mozambican entity is a service company involved in the Energy sector in the supply chain, offshore and onshore. It is dealing both in Food and Industrial goods.

The BU Manager will be responsible for developing the activities of the subsidiary by implementing the Group commercial strategy as well as ensuring a smooth and robust ground operation out of our Pemba facility.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Operations’ Management
Ensure optimal client satisfaction:
o Ensure positive clients ‘relationship, entertaining all clients’ request, issues arising from operations…
o Supply chain coordination, local and international procurement with Group entities and third parties
o Ensure complete and on time order deliveries
o Establish and implement logistics plans
o Ensure the compliance to all statutory obligations

2. Management
a. Responsible of the overall BU profitability across the various activities including:
o Budget control
o P&L monitoring
b. HR
o Assist with necessary recruitment to ensure optimal and profitable service delivery
o Participate in regular personal evaluations, KPI appraisals
o With CM, Manage absenteeism, poor performance and any HR related issues
o Stay within the Mozambican legislation

3. Warehouse and Stock management
a. Implementation of group processes, strict daily, weekly, monthly inventory management
b. Ensuring teams adherence to processes and stock levels always matching ERP data
c. Define and implement optimal warehouse management and organisation
d. Ensure cold chain is preserved and adherence to food health regulations international best practices

4. Commercial Development
a. Promotion of all the products’ ranges
b. Commercial follow up to develop sales
c. Planning with the Team of commercial actions and reporting on results

5. Infrastructure Management and Control
a. Management and maintenance of the assets: warehouse, cold rooms, racking, plant equipment, vehicles…
b. Select and manage the service providers needed to ensure suitable preventive maintenance to avoid down time on any equipment
c. Special care to refrigeration units to avoid break down and down time
Qualifications:
o Tertiary education
o Speaks fluent Portuguese and English
o Demonstrated experience (5 years+) in supply chain management
o Preferably food industry background
o Experience in export, shipping, vessel management/operation a plus
