Location: Woodstock, Cape Town (Work-from-home Opportunity)
Salary: R40 000 – R70 000 per month

About The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Digital, this role will join our client’s growing team responsible for developing bespoke fintech solutions for their ever expanding stable of partners both locally and abroad.

While our client has offices in trendy Woodstock, during the lockdown they decided to become a remote-first company, so most of the week will be spent working from wherever you’re most productive.

Responsibilities:
As a data engineer, you will guide the evolution of our client’s information architecture as they scale up to 100s of thousands of merchants. You will be responsible for the following areas of performance:

• Data visualization and dashboards
• Predictive ML Model development (mostly linear regression and decision trees)
• Database analysis, design & administration (datamarts)
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
• Design and analyze multivariate experiments to evaluate the impact of product changes
• SQL Query optimization and data architecture improvements
• Implementing data pipelines using cloud infrastructure and services
• Develop and monitor portfolio credit risk metrics / trends

Tech Stack:
• DB: PostgreSQL
• ETL: Python
• Infra: AWS (Lambda, Route53, API Gateway, CloudFront, S3, SES)
• Dev Tools: Git, Bitbucket, Pipelines, Slack, Gitkraken
• OS: Ubuntu or Windows 10
• Apps: SagePay, SalesForce, Jira
• Dashboards: Dash / Plotly
• Reporting: MS Office

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degrees (B degrees) in math / statistics, science, computer science
• 5-10 years’ relevant experience
