Position Depot Controller

Reporting to Sales Manager

Job Grade CL

Job at Glance To supervise, co-ordinate and control all financial, administration and operational functions of the Depot, ensuring compliance with organisation's financial controls and optimum customer service levels at the lowest possible cost.

Required Prior Learning ? Matric or equivalent
? Ability to manage, develop and implement depot planning and administration.
? Ability to drive and manage key activities on a multi-functional basis
? Ability to implement change processes and strategies
? Sound understanding of management principles
? Computer literate
? 3 years managerial experience in a FMCG logistics/commercial environment with operational exposure

? ensure daily delivery performance and take corrective action where necessary
? ensure contingency plans to meet all orders and deliveries

? Excise and monitor continuous improvement. Improve efficiencies and cost reductions.
? Manage daily stock
? Measure and control stock rotation – FIFO
? Exercise stock reconciliation’s and implement corrective action where necessary
? Weekly Driver Balances on Thurs to be zero
? Control all stats and data for correctness and timeous submission
? Manage depot stats and take corrective action where necessary.
? Liaise with Distribution Manager on a regular basis
? Control and manage Depot risk programs.
? Implement and excise action plan where audits reveal shortcomings.
? Implement and manage program at Depot.
? Control Depot TQM controls and measurements and take corrective action where necessary.
? Operational involvement on a daily basis.
? Communicate results and objectives to all staff.
? Address and finalise any issues.
? Staff appraisals and objective setting.
? Conflict management.
? Management by walkabout.
? Instil action-oriented ethos.
? Mentor all staff.
? Build relationships with Customers – Receiving Managers/ Store Owners specifically.
? Supply the trade with relevant delivery information.
? Provide detailed feedback to the operations on deviations and progress
? Agrees on routes and route viability - quarterly
? Agrees on customer service levels - Weekly
? Determines driver balances and takes corrective action – ongoing
? Ensure that company rules, regulations, policies and procedures are adhered to
? Have regular progress review sessions with subordinates (one-to-one or group) and take
? corrective action for non-performance
? Conduct coaching and mentoring sessions
? Create an environment of co-operation and willingness
? Give instructions and follow up on activities
? Ensure that route sales files are adhered to and that all variances are followed up and investigated
? Ensure a detailed and efficient paper trail at all times
