DEPUTY NURSING SERVICES MANAGER – TOKAI, WESTERN CAPE

INTRODUCTION
In conjunction with our recruitment partner, we are calling on suitably qualified, professional candidates to apply for this exciting position that exists in Tokai in the Western Cape.

TYPE
Full time, Permanent Position

REQUIREMENTS
• Current and Valid Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Unit Manager.
• Diploma/Relevant Nursing Administration Qualification.
• Post Basic Qualification in ICU or Trauma – Advantageous.
• Fully computer literate including Microsoft Office and Kronos.
• Able to work independently, assume job ownership and apply continuous improvement principles.

KEY OUTPUTS
• Assist the Nursing Services Manager with the development, implementation and evaluation of the nursing strategic plan and sub-unit strategic plan.
• Attend meetings when requested by the Nursing Services Manager.
• Deputise in the absence of the Nursing Services Manager.
• Ensure the implementation and adherence to nursing standards and policies.
• Monitor and manager staff absenteeism.
• Assist with selecting and appointment of staff.
• Implement and monitor the induction of employees and in-service training.
• Implement a system for mentoring and ensure a positive working environment conducive to Continuous Professional Development.
• Define, evaluate and correct the job descriptions and the scope of practice of staff identified where necessary.
• Liaise between various departments in the multi-disciplinary team.
• Manage client expectations in accordance with company policies.
• Evaluate infection control processes, interventions and outcomes.
• Evaluate and manage patient and visitor POS issues.
• Monitor staff levels.
• Weekly check of Unit Managers’ Schedule Drug audit reports.
• Analysis of all incident reports, root causes, interventions and outcomes.
