One of the leading producers & suppliers of vegetable products to the retail and food service industries is currently recruiting for a Farm Manager to efficiently manage their farm operations at Philippi where numerous vegetable lines are grown. The farm has a full compliment of section managers, Finance staff, HR and Workshops.

APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS
• Completed degree / diploma in Agriculture
• 10 Years working experience in Vegetable farming
• At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership role
• Knowledge of hydroponic farming as well as conventional farming techniques
• Knowledge of Industry quality and safety audits
• Passionate about agriculture
• Self-motivated and ability to work under pressure
• Able to adapt in quick changing environments with forward thinking
• Computer literate in MS Office applications

KPA’S
Budgets
• Assist General manager with budgets

Finance
• Responsible to identify and motivate for capital budget

Farming
• Responsible for yield on all crops
• Responsible for timeous and accurate application of all farming inputs, i.e. Fertilizers, Chemicals, Irrigation, Compost and other inputs.
• Ensure best practises are followed
• Ensure all trails are followed and recorded.
• Capture of all farming data.
• Must be able to communicate and motivate all levels off management
• Be able to work with industry leaders, i.e. Consultants, Super markets and service suppliers

Labour
• Responsible to drive labour efficiencies to ensure no downtime
• Drive mechanisation: identify new opportunities

Machinery
• Communicate with the workshop manager on service of all machinery to ensure minimum downtime and unproductivity

Audits
• Ensure conformity with Global Gap, “Farming for the future” and industry standard

Growing programme
• Assist General manager with growing program
• Ensure fresh produce availability weekly to pack house
