KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To manage the Finance Department according to sound financial systems, practices and processes that:
Comply with relevant legislation and financial reporting standards
Comply with the organization’s Accounting Policies and Procedures
Meet principles of international best practices, and enable the organisation to achieve its strategic financial objectives

MAIN KEY RESULT AREAS INCLUDE:
Financial systems management – Establish and maintain mechanisms for : budgeting, financial controls, accounting, costing and reporting including management information system.
Financial planning & reporting – Prepare and revise departmental budgets against business plans, and provide accurate financial reports (budget and variance) and schedules as required.
Compile monthly, quarterly and annual accounts,and audited annual financial statements.
Financial advice and direction – Provide financial input into preparation of business plans and project decisions.
Provide advice on tax-related decisions.
Financial management – Plan, direct and manage departmental activities to ensure efficient discharge of accounting obligations in line with IFRS and legislation.
Monitor adherence to financial systems and process. o
Ensure compliance of all policies, procedures and systems with legislative, shareholder and statutory requirements and advise accordingly (incl advice on corporate governance).
Verify suppliers’ claims and reconcile supplier statements to effect payment.
People management – Plan, select, develop and maintain suitable manpower capabilities for the department, in line with HR processes and practices.
Provide technical direction and motivate the team to ensure high performance.
Identify and address departmental related problems and opportunities, timeously.

QUALIFYING ATTRIBUTES:
Qualifications: B Com Degree in Accounting or Finance, Completed Articles, Master’s in Business
Administration will be an added advantage
Experience: 5 years’ post articles broad-based financial management experience, 3 of which, in a senior management capacity
Knowledge: International Financial Reporting Standards; Financial Modelling; Taxation (Company, Personal,
VAT); Company Business Planning & Management Principles; Business understanding
Skills: Strategic focus and ability to cascade the vision and values; Leadership; Results driven; Ability to initiate action and drive accountability; Relationship building and stakeholder engagement; Adaptable and able to respond effectively to diverse stakeholders and change; Analysis and integration; Coaching and mentoring
