B Degree or equivalent in Engineering
Mine Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works) essential
Certificate/Diploma in Project Management advantage
Leadership Development Programme (LDP) or equivalent
Min. 5 years Project Management experience on UG Mechanised / Massive Mines
At least 5 years’ experience at a Managerial level
Operational working experience in an Underground Mine
Experience in resource development projects
Computer Literacy in MS Office suite at an Advanced Level
Driver’s License
Willing to relocate to all areas
Understand capability and limitations of the various Project Management systems software available give direction
Review mine designs, ground handling systems, civil construction, equipment selection, staffing, schedules and costing.
Know and understand the mines production targets, security systems, standards, policies and procedures.
Plan, coordinate and prioritise.
Scenario planning and financial modelling.
In-depth technical knowledge of mining operations and engineering systems, equipment and processes.
Interact within a multi-disciplinary team, be innovated and demonstrate pro-active thinking
Responsible for implementing Project Management Guidelines and Project Procedures.
Assist with identify and initiating strategic projects which can include all engineering infrastructure related to sustaining current operations or accessing and exploiting the new mining blocks (what should be done, the benefits, who should do it, ensuring quality).
Co-ordinate engineering related tasks that form part of LOM Mine Expansion projects, other Expansion projects, SIB Projects and schedules
Feasibility studies and co-ordinate with trade-off studies and above threshold SIB Projects Consult with Group Leads and Operations(Mining, Plant, Technical Services, Engineering etc. get sign-off on designs, schedules and costing.
Review all engineering design layouts, schedules, services costing.
Develop, own control the budget for Group Projects: Engineering & Construction.
Provide input oversight to the operations capital budgets in order to provide assurance to the Group Projects Manager.
Responsible to participate in larger contract activities
Provide related technical expertise and Project Management skills to the operations; advising on technical solutions to enhance or ensure the effectiveness of the operations.
Maintain industry-wide perspective on major trends, including macro-economic, consumer, regulatory, technology, distribution channels, product and competitive trends, industry best practices, and identifying potential strategic and financial implications.
Implement best practice methodologies.
Ensure capacity bench strength, directing and leading Project Engineering talent across group: Provide technical guidance and input on Project Engineering training programmes. Keep abreast of latest developments in area of expertise.
Internal external stakeholders on Project Management related matters, and support operations on Project Planning and Execution.
Establish good working relationships effective / sound communication system with Planning Function.
Ensure compliance planning by tracking projects operational performance advising Operational Group Projects Manager on interventions required.
Compliance to all relevant project documentation including designs, design approval, change management and non-conformances.
Ensure that all Project Engineering reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules. Conduct periodical audits in line with established framework and schedule, provide audit findings, and recommend opportunities for improvement to the operations and CTO.
Responsible to conduct regular inspections of engineering installations concerning quality.
Responsible to co-ordinate project reviews and risk assessments to identify risks and implement mitigating controls.
Participate in a sustainable process to identify, assess and rank project design, project execution and operational risk as these relate to the business and operations, in order to promote a risk-aware culture, ensure that any potential impact is understood, and facilitate effective decision-making. Design risk mitigation and provide this as input into the ERM program.
Identification, analysing and interpreting of engineering risks within the organisation and contribute to the equipment selection, design and implementing of strategies and systems to mitigate risk and to prevent and reduce loss of the organization’s assets. Provide this as input into the ERM program.
