FMCG experience non-negotiable. Previous experience with Spar, Woolworths, Checkers or Pick n Pay will be an advantage.

Introduction

A leading and reputable FMCG Retail Group seeks to employ a HEAD CHEF in Mulbarton, Johannesburg South. This person will be responsible for managing all aspects of the hot and cold foods, maximising gross profit. Understand and manage costing. Ensuring high levels of food standards are always maintained and Health & Safety requirements a constant priority. Keeping up to date with consumer needs, research and analysing sales data. Must be performance driven, passionate about food and developing recipes.

Skills and Requirements

• Gr 12 or equivalent NQF
• Professional chef certification preferred
• Minimum 5 years’ management experience in FMCG food environment
• Large scale production experience and product development
• Improve product range and keep up to date with consumer trends.
• Ensuring continues growth regarding the Company’s bottom line profit and driving turnover
• Strong staff management skills
• Flexible shifts to meet extended trading hours
• Proficient in English, both verbal and written
• Excellent communication skills a must
• IT Literate, Word, Excel and Outlook. Weekly and monthly report writing skills
• Ability to work in a high-pressure working environment
• Must reside in Johannesburg South or surrounding areas
• Health and Safety awareness

Responsibilities

• Analysing and researching trends within the FMCG retail sector.
• Develop, evaluate process flows and creates standard operating procedures (SOP's)
• Working in conjunction with other departmental managers to ensure productivity
• Coordinate and manage product pricing, displays and merchandising
• Participate in management development opportunities provided by the Company
• Ensuring continues growth regarding the Company’s bottom line profit and driving turnover
• Setting targets and ensuring a target driven work environment
• Implement, monitor and ensure all standard operating procedures are adhered to in the relevant departments
• Managing and the prevention of stock losses and shrinkage, security awareness.
• Provide ongoing training, information and coaching to subordinates on all aspects of the relevant departments
• Adhere labour requirements and managing staff turnover
• Conducting performance management, training/development and workflow planning
• Participate and manage disciplinary requirements and actions
• Managing budget control and reaching targets
• Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analysing variances and initiating corrective actions
• Facilitate meetings and providing accurate feedback and projection reports
• Ensure department staff are compliant in cost management
