MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experiences
• Four (4) year (or equivalent) degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental discipline or equivalent; Relevant advanced degree preferred
• 5+ years of experience with an emphasis in environmental, health and safety program management and employee training.
• Possession of a technical degree is an advantage

Requirements/Skills
• Must have clear communication and writing skills in English
• Ability to do presentations & provide training in front of larger groups
• Ability to travel to participate in EHS Events and Assignments
• Strong team-building skills
• Strong organizational skills including ability to manage large number of disparate projects and to track projects through completion
• Working knowledge of cross-functional EHS disciplines
• Ability to serve as a subject matter expert in one of the EHS functional disciplines (Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering/Management, Safety, or EHS Systems.
• Adept at utilization of software solutions
• Understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes
• Ability to demonstrate managerial courage (e.g., managing varied interests representing potential conflicts)
• Ability to lead and support cross-functional process improvement teams
• Professional certification preferred (Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or country equivalent).
• Proficiency in local language(s)

The incumbent is responsible for providing technical and leadership support within the location including: objectives and targets; assisting in the investigation of EHS Events and supporting the establishment of corrective and preventive action plans; communication of regulatory requirements; identifying and sharing transferrable practices, evaluating and developing local EHS talent, providing necessary support for site EHS programs, and participation on the Global EHS Teams

The incumbent may have additional responsibilities for providing contribution to subject matter expertise on a core competency team (CCT): Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering/Management, Safety, and EHS Systems.

• Facilitates process and provides technical and administrative services such as industrial hygiene sampling, ergonomic evaluations to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and client requirements. Specific attention is needed to evaluate and ensure compliance with local EHS requirements.
• Participates in regional forums for knowledge and sharing of best practices along with general integration of EHS Directives/Documentation across the region including integration of Corporate, Division, and Regional EHS initiatives.
• Shared ownership and accountability for the achievement of local goals and objectives along with timely and accurate reporting mechanisms in support of Regional/Corporate/Business strategic initiatives designed to produce verifiable world class performance.
• Supports EHS risk assessment initiatives and risk mitigation at the location
• Establishes and maintains relationships with governmental authorities on matters of mutual concern including voluntary certification (e.g., ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 registration, VPP, Industrial Limpia, a.o)
• Ensure environmental permits, submission of required reports, and maintenance of data are properly managed.
• Build organization capability by providing EHS training and development of EHS professionals to ensure each discipline within the location has the appropriate technical and functional EHS competencies.
• Supports Operations by developing an EHS training and deployment plan for successful cross-functional implementation of the EHS Procedures/ Methods/Directives/Documentation requirements.
• Supports the investigation process of incidents (including near misses, releases, and losses) and accidents to determine root causes. Assists in the Identification and determination of correction action for systemic EHS issues within the location.
• Supports initiatives to improve environmental conditions in the community and off-the-job safety.
• Supports response actions to emergency situations dealing with the environment, employees, or the community.
• Facilitate synergy EHS improvement involving site, functional, local business leaders and Regional business EHS liaisons by establishing site EHS organization structure, delegation of EHS accountability and developing their EHS skill to deploy local EHS management processes.
