Our client, in the agricultural industry, requires the service of an Information Officer who will be responsible for collecting, processing and disseminating production and market information.

Key performance areas:

? Establishing and maintaining information systems, data and key economic perspectives including benchmarks
? Obtain and analyse international and local demand and supply information
? Obtain and analyse international price information
? Analyses and projection regarding plantings and trends
? Provide support to the Marketing Committee, trade and market development initiatives and submissions
? Liaison with various role players in the industry, specifically producers, processors and growers
? Handling of agricultural economic enquiries as well as the preparation of newsletters, information sheets and reports
? Research and development of perspectives regarding trade policy and legislation
? Assistance with the preparation and evaluation of business / farm plans
? General day to day administration

The successful candidate must have:

? Matric with a BSc degree with Agricultural Economics as a field of specialization or similar qualification will be advantageous
? 2 - 3 years' experience in a commercial or marketing environment will be advantageous
? Thorough knowledge of Agricultural-Economic terms and concepts
? Knowledge of the nut industry will advantageous
? Excellent analytical and numeracy skills
? Excellent computer literacy (MS Word; Excel, Power Point and Publisher are essential)
? Excellent organizational / planning and administrative abilities
? Must be able to work independently and take own initiative
? Written and verbal communication skills, in Afrikaans and English, is essential
? Must be willing to travel when required
