POSITION: JUNIOR BOOKKEEPER / JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT

LOCATIONS: OROMODE, JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng

PLACEMENT: ASAP

REGIONAL AREA: JOHANNESBURG GAUTENG

SALARY RANGE: R15000 – R20000 CTC

STARTING DATE: Asap

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Introduction:
We currently have a vacancy for a Junior Book Keeper / Junior Accountant, to be based at the Central Office in Johannesburg for a Wholesale and Retail (FMCG) trading entity.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties included but not limited to the following: -
- Full admin function including processing of cash book, journals as required.
- Daily, weekly and monthly reporting to financial Exec’s.
- Meeting of the processing deadlines as set out by the Financial Exec’s.
- Ensure finance and store compliance with set policy and procedures.
- Supplier relations and direct payments in consultation with financial controller.
- Required to manage and control Cash Book payments, Treasury processing on a Daily basis with Accuracy.
- Liaise with external suppliers on payment terms and scheduled payments.
- Dealing with External Auditors on financial controller and submissions.
- Any other duties or functions as determined by financial controller or Head Office.
- Safe guarding of company assets specifically stock, assets and cash.
- Dealing with cash recons specifically cash office included but not limited to doing spot checks.
- Dealing and reconciliation of CIT (Cash in Transit) service provider as well as cash centre.

Desired Experience & Qualification
• Minimum Grade 12;
• Administration qualification will be advantageous if the person has such skills;

Characteristics: -
- Manage stress specifically in a cash flow constrained environment;
- Meet deadlines;
- Self-starter and able to work without supervision;
- Analytical and accurate;
- Will be required to attend all stock takes (3 – 4 times a year);
- Will be required to work either Saturdays or Sunday’s;
- 5 Day position – Monday to Friday and with occasional Month-end requirements to work over weekends when required (Adhoc).

Computer Packages:-
- Pastel (Required) Evolution (advantage);
- Excel (Required);
- Arch advantage.

Knowledge:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Computer literacy (Strong Excel, Word and Outlook skills);
• Basic administration processes (including filing and record keeping).

• Excellent communication and liaison skills (Face-to-face, written and over the telephone);
• Retail background/ Receptionist/ Call centre operator/ back office administrator that wants to deal with clients;
• Basic accounting would be preferable but not compulsory.

Package & Remuneration
• Market related and dependent on industry experience 12 000 CTC pm – 18 000 CTC pm Opportunity for growth within the Finance Department of a Retail (FMCG) Chain.

Specific Additional Requirements:
• Must have own reliable transport;
• Would have to have occupied the same or similar role within a face paced environment, also be prepared to travel to stores when required for Audit reasons and site inspections, etc, on an Adhoc occasion.
