Junior/Intermediate Data Engineer – BI/T-SQL/Reporting (Fixed term contract: 12 months) Location: Parktown, Johannesburg - R25 000 - R50 000 dep on exp.
We’re looking for a skilled data engineer who will work independently and as part of a team in an agile environment, and will be based at a client site in Parktown.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, creating and managing data and analytics solutions that turn data into knowledge. In this role, you should have a background in data and business analysis. You should be analytical, an excellent communicator, have business acumen and problem-solving aptitude.
Key responsibilities The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following key deliverables:
Write T-SQL queries to investigate data issues on one of our core business systems.
Process queries logged on a call log system – second and third level support.
Analyse T-SQL in stored procedures for changes and troubleshooting.
Develop new stored procedures/functions for the core business system.
Interact with other sections like Development operations and infrastructure.

Technical Skills and Experience Essential:
A very good knowledge of Transact SQL for MS SQL Server. The resource will be required to write advanced T-SQL queries. T-SQL Development: Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Views etc.SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) • Power BI • The resource should have the ability to learn the structure/”meaning” of a database’s entity relationships (ERD). Advantageous:
Good communication abilities and willing to deal with business personnel will be advantage.
Oracle Crystal Reports – will be an advantage Attributes • Ability to work independently and self-manage • Good communication skills • Technical specification writing and communication skills essential • Attention to detail / accuracy • Analytical as well as strong development skills • Delivery focused and meeting deadlines • Critical thinker – problem solver • Comprehensive thought and error handling solutions
