JOB VACANCY – Quality Lab Technician

Our client in the plastic industry based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal is looking for a Quality Lab Technician. This position will report directly to the Quality Manager.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure that all products conform to customer specifications
• Raise non- conformances and assist and close out corrective action
• Complete inspection reports and certificates of analysis
• Quarantine non-conforming products and follow up with corrective action
• Test /measure products and report variances to Quality Manager
• Constantly create quality awareness on factory floor
• Sign off first samples and ensure that FSSC 22000 standards are adhered to
• Conduct internal and safety audits and ensure that Health and Safety standards are adhered to
• Assist Production with Quality problems
• Assist with customer complaints and route cause analysis
• Calibration training for start-up of products on production machines

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Minimum matric (Grade 12) with excellent mathematical skills
• 2 years production experience in an FMCG environment, preferably in the Plastics industry
• Clean attendance and disciplinary record essential
• Willingness and ability to work rotational shifts when required
• Computer literacy (Excel, Word, Power Point)
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail
• Good communication skills and customer service orientated
• Ability to work in a team; and to work under pressure
• Knowledge of FSSC 22000 Quality Management system and HACCP will be an advantage
• Knowledge of Health and Safety Standards in line with OHS Act
• Sound laboratory knowledge requiring the use of standard measuring equipment
• Sound knowledge of Fishbone problem solving and root cause analysis
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control FMEA as well as experience in Minitabs will be an advantage
