Legal Compliance Manager

Location: Mouille Point, Cape Town
Salary: Market Related

About the Role:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’d be responsible for ensuring that appropriate processes, systems and structures are in place to manage compliance with the Company’s legal and regulatory obligations, in particular regarding online compliance/the online betting sector. This position is responsible for examining and researching the risk areas across the business and mitigating identified risks ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulations, legislation, company policies and best practice. You will also drive compliance awareness and encourage a compliance culture across the business.

Requirements:
B.Com Law/LLB/Post graduate qualification in Law.
5+ years’ experience in a Legal & Compliance role
Proficiency in dealing with third party regulators and licensing bodies
Functional knowledge & understanding of appropriate regulations, policies and/or practices
Able to gather, collate and summarise information from various sources and databases
Analytical skills
Effective written & verbal communication
Attention to detail, accuracy and number-orientated
Good knowledge of brand perception and customer experience.
Advantageous:
Knowledge of or experience in the online gambling industry
Experience in gambling regulatory compliance

Duties:
Assisting with ensuring the company is compliant with applicable regulations by
providing the business with advice and support.
Escalate any significant compliance/non-compliance issues, i.e., irregular activities and/or
potential issues in policies or systems to the Managing Director or any other stakeholder,
leading investigations and remediation promptly and effectively.
Establishing a sound compliance and governance framework within the business.
Ensuring all controls are in place to mitigate risk within the business.
Advise business on necessary controls and systems.
Responsible for Commercial and Legal agreements.
Implementation of relative ACT's and regulations.
Formulate and implement Compliance Risk Management Plans.
Determine Statutory and Management requirements applicable.
Identify and interpret applicable compliance requirements.
Assess the possible impact of regulatory development on operations of the business
Implement, monitor and ensure compliance with relevant standards, processes and best
practices
Design and compile compliance monitoring plans and compliance risk management plans
(CRMP’s) as required by relevant legislation.
Communicate effectively and efficiently with relevant internal parties including the
coordination across compliance departments ensure effective coverage of compliance risk.
Oversee licensing conditions and codes of practice are adhered to for the licenses held by the company.
Engaging in communication with the relevant regulatory authorities as necessary to represent the company’s interests.
Carrying out a programme of monitoring for compliance risks.
Liaising and maintaining close working relationships with third party companies involved in
the operations of the business’s licences.
