A non-profit company, providing free, comprehensive health services to communities nationwide is recruiting for a Finance Manager.

Duties Include:

Risk reviews
• Perform annual risk assessment linked to various awards through contract reviews
• Develop a risk register based on reviews
• Communicate risks to relevant stakeholders and monitor resolutions

Planning and administration
• Oversee administration of manual and electronic copies of all legal documents
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of contract registers
• Proactively communicate with relevant stakeholders prior to legal documents expiring

Compliance and legal support
• Work with the grants team to ensure legal compliance and manage risks
• Advise on best practices and standards
• Conduct detailed legal reviews of the organisation’s progress against contracted requirements and financial documents
• Stay up to date with funder rules and regulations

Ensure compliance with funder requirements
• Ensure compliance with statutory and legal requirements including Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
• Draft and review all forms of contracts including HR, operational, MOUs, and funder contracts
• Reporting
• Prepare and present reports as required
• Report on the results of internal legal investigations to the manager
• Provide recommendations to improve areas of deficiencies and process weaknesses identified
• Support management through participation in projects designed to introduce new and/or changing processes

Stakeholder engagement
• Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders (funders, auditors, sub-awardees)
• Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders


Requirements:

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree in law and 1 - 2 years’ relevant experience at a minimum, or completed accredited paralegal course and 3 - 4
years relevant experience at a minimum
• NGO experience advantageous
• Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) knowledge beneficial
• Good understanding of statutory laws of South Africa
• Proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel (formulas, pivots, charts)
• Ability to compile detailed reports
• Excellent organisational skills and be able to multi-task
• Must be able to manage sensitive documents and function effectively in a fast-paced environment
