Our client a Cement Manufacturer is looking for a Logistics Manager you will be in charge of executing the overall direction and coordination of all transportation matters within the Company, by ensuring that haulage and transport of raw material and finished cement products arrive at their destinations safely, on time and in the most cost-effective way, whilst meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
Education, Experience and Competencies
• Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Management / Relevant Degree in Commerce
• Min of 6 years post graduate working experience in Cement or similar Manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of MS Office, SAP / ERP Systems

A brief overview of duties and responsibilities (not limited to)
• Manages end-to-end trucking operations, which include, amongst others, the loading and unloading of raw materials, finished cement products (bagged or bulk), packaging and pallets.
• Continuously liaises with Sales Team to ensure that current and future market needs are met.
• Liaises with factory daily to determine raw material stock levels, in order to ensure that correct trucking requirements are met.
• Manages the offloading of raw materials from vessel to truck, from harbour to factory site within the allotted time frame, whilst ensuring that trucks are constantly running at maximum capacity, 24/7 for the duration of ship discharge.
• Regularly travels Interprovincial, in order to meet with Transporters, Suppliers, Customers, as well as for purposes of inspecting the factory, sidings and roads.
• Sources, negotiates and liaises with Suppliers, regarding contracting, on-time delivery, cost savings, quantity and quality.
• Establishes and maintains lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with Customers, Suppliers and Transporters.
• Assists with insurance claims for damages to Company property caused by Transporters
• Ensures that agreed Service Level Agreements are met.
• Handles internal and external queries and resolves any discrepancies on time.
• Receives proof of delivery notes, checks and approves payment of invoices, reconciles Transporter accounts monthly.
• Provides a professional service that promotes and enhances own function, Company Brand and delivery.
• Monitors vehicle tracking.
• Prepare and deliver detailed monthly, quarterly and annual reports as per set standards and requirements, legislation and regulations.
• Prepares and presents trucking operations, costs and outcomes to Senior Management.
