Our Client is a Regional Pubic Transportation Company based In Midrand. They are looking to recruit an Maintenance Engineering Manager.

*The candidate must have B. Eng. in Mechanical or Electrical as minimum requirement or higher

*GCC Certificate for GMR 2.1 Appointment a must.

*Registered with ECSA as a candidate

*Safety Management

*8 years relevant experience in maintenance operations with minimum of 4 years in in railway environment

*Must have management experience as they will be managing managers

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
? To develop appropriate safety, quality and performance standards of the
maintenance activities.
? To maintain all assets on a planned and emergency basis to a standard of product
quality and service as to position the Company as a world-class railway system
operator.
? To monitor asset condition and propose remedial actions in order to meet the life
expectancy of the assets.
? To conduct investigations into failures and ensure implementation of
recommendations.
? To manage team ensuring Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic Time-bound
objectives are in place and ensure performances are assessed on a regular basis.
? Comply with Company policies and promote team spirit.
? Fulfil all duties as specified in legal appointment.
? Follow-up on technical objectives related to the quality and the efficiency of the
maintenance activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
? B.Eng. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
? GCC Certificate for GMR 2.1 Appointment
? ECSA Professional Engineer
? Safety management
? General technical knowledge
? Excellent working knowledge and experience in maintenance of engineering and
railway systems
? At least 8 years’ relevant experience in maintenance operations with minimum of 4
years’ experience in a railway environment.
? Fluent in English

JOB DESCRIPTION
? Deliver safe maintenance of the trains assets.
? Develop and enforce compliance to appropriate safety, quality and performance
standards for the asset portfolio.
? Ensure the application of the appropriate safety standards for asset maintenance.
? Achieve the quality and performance targets set for the trains assets in line with
the Concession Agreement.
? Direct investigations into safety critical and serious failures.
? Lead the drive for improved asset performance and search for new asset
maintenance strategies.
? Lead the development of long-term asset management plans and strategies.
Manage the maintenance team and maintenance sub-contracts.
? Lead and direct the performance of the Division and ensure compliance to safety and
quality standards set by the Company.
? Oversee the formulation and review of Maintenance Plan and Manuals.
? Ensure strategies and plans are developed to meet all divisional objectives and
continually improve standards of maintenance.
? Manage the asset portfolio within the financial controls and limits set by Executive
Maintenance. Review annual budget, maintenance expenses and explain monthly
budget variances.
? Provide guidance and leadership to all staff and subordinates and ensure productivity
and achievement of divisional objectives.
? Manage maintenance of trains assets and ensure safe, reliable optimal
performance and integrity of plant equipment to achieve operational excellence.
? Appointment as a General Machinery Regulations competent person to supervise
machinery in terms of Occupational Health and Safety Acts and ensure legal
compliance.
? Propose and lead all OPEX/CAPEX projects in Civil, Electrical and Electromechanical
including renewal, LDN, WDN and closure of NCRs.
? Implement improvement processes and key performance indicators.
? Ensure strategies and plans are developed to meet all departmental objectives and
continually improve the standards of maintenance.
? Ensure continuous improvement of all systems.
? Manage the Maximo System administration and configuration modules, workflow
development and administration for the Company assets and ensure safety, quality
and performance targets are achieved so as to position the Company as a worldclass railway system operator.
? Manage all train infrastructure and ensure prompt corrective actions are
implemented.
? Manage staff, provide guidance and leadership to all subordinates and ensure
achievement of service objectives.
? Maintain good staff morale, job satisfaction and promote productivity movements in
the department.
? Contract renewal, tender process and ensure all Contracts are updated.
? Define and follow-up on technical objectives related to the quality and the efficiency of
the maintenance activities.
? Conduct analysis on obsolescence treatment.
? Provide technical interface with the stakeholders
Ensure all safety critical and safety related software and hardware assets are
maintained and updated.
? Oversee the drive for innovation and improved system performance.
? Manage training of maintenance staff and ensure the procedures for training and
certifications are correctly followed.
