Mechanical Engineer
Our client, a World Class Manufacturing Environment company based in the Vaal Triangle has a vacancy for a dynamic Mechanical Engineer with the following:
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible to manage and implement maintenance tasks and projects in line with a successful WCM maintenance strategy, while assuring compliance to all relevant regulations, and maintaining a safe working environment.
The Engineer will be responsible for planning, procurement, manufacturing, installation and handover of maintenance related work packages. He/she will implement and drive a Reliability centred maintenance system on the back of self-implemented standards and procedures for the business.
Special focus on Turbo Machinery and Rotating Equipment is a big aspect of this position.
Qualifications:
• B.Sc. (Mechanical) or B. Eng. (Hons) (Mechanical)
• PR Certificated preferred

Experience:
• 5 years’ experience in Heavy Industry/Mining/Chemical Process Environment
• 5-10 Years or more turbine and/or compressor machinery & Rotating Equipment maintenance experience may be advantageous
• Project management proficiency

Duties:
• Development of maintenance strategies for plant equipment.
• Development and execution of maintenance strategies for Turbo Machinery & other Rotating machinery
• Ensuring statutory compliance with regards the relevant OHS Acts & Regulations.
• Ensuring compliance to ISO 9001, 14001, 18001 standards
• Determining total life cycle cost of equipment.
• Compilation of long-term maintenance strategies.
• Developing and overseeing implementation of maintenance procedures.
• Periodic review and analysis of maintenance measures.
• Improvement of maintenance strategy.
• Develop and maintain a 5-year asset care & maintenance forecast plan.
• Preparation of proper SOW for general overhaul and equipment repair activities by external parties.
• Preparation and control of job orders for third party service providers.
• Work Management control for internal and external service providers.
• Preparation and implementation of EHS-Procedures.
• Compilation and control of the maintenance capital replacement budget.
• Application and improvement of the CMMS.
• Managing and supervision of external service providers.
• QA /QC for all maintenance measures.
• Preservation of the plant performance by pro-actively eliminating equipment failures.
• Developing of maintenance procedures, standards and specifications.

• In-depth understanding of the technical requirements regarding Turbo Machinery maintenance and operation.
• Determining & developing Scopes-of-Work for ad hoc maintenance and General Overhaul activities.
• Ensuring General Overhaul activities are performed to correct technical standards and tolerances.
• Maintaining the oil of Turbo Machinery for maximum health and longevity.
• Able to develop preventive measures necessary to ensure prevention of equipment failures.
